This summer, the High debuted Outside the Lines, an immersive maze of accessible, sensory environments by award-winning design and research practice Bryony Roberts Studio, as its seventh site-specific installation on The Woodruff Arts Center’s Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza.
The Outside the Lines installation and Full Radius Dance is a perfect match. The curves of Outside the Lines mimic the curving steel structure of the wheels of the dancers’ chairs. The sculpture is highly tactile and dance is also – hands touching, bodies providing support for bodies - investigating intimacy of touch and its social construction. The variety and height of the Outside the Lines materials allow for choices for where the dance takes place but also for how the audience experiences the event whether close up, far away, straight on, or at an angle.
